  • Antirrhinum Majus

Blog Pic Antirrhinum majus is the Latin name given to common snapdragon. It comes from the the Greek words anti, which means "like" and rhin, which means nose, apparently referring to the snout-like flowers. It is termed as a species of the plants which belongs to the genus Antirrhinum. Also, the name 'snapdragon' has been cultivated from the flowers' appearance as having its mouth snap open after getting the throat squeezed.
Snapdragon normally grows to a height of 0.5meterss, but rarely grows upto 2meters. Its leaves are spirally arranged and the flowers are produced on a tall spike. The fruit of this plant is an ovoid capsule which contains numerous seeds in itself.
Snapdragons blossoms during the cool atmosphere of Spring season so as to produce more long-lasting flowers. If they grow beyond the height of 6 inches, cut short them to a height of 6 inches to make them blossom again in the cool weather of falls.
These flowers can also be used in bouquets. To use these flowers in bouquets, cut them when the flower buds are totally formed. These flowers come in several colors, but not in blue and green. These flowers last for a very long time even after being cut from their branches. These flowers have a sweet and subtle fragrance that is never overpowering.
