  • Conveying Data Visually through PowerPoint Presentations

Blog Pic Have you ever pondered on when, how, and, how much visualizations should you use when presenting your much awaited PowerPoint presentation? No doubt there is no set rule for professional PowerPoint presentation. One should use visuals naturally in their presentations. Still, there are a few things, which you would do good to consider beforehand. Let’s discuss!

    A good PowerPoint presentation combines:

    Spoken Communication
You are a presenter, and, along with walking your audience through the slides, you need to facilitate them with your commentary on those slides. This is important, and, you should make sure that your commentary is complementing your PowerPoint slides.

    Written Communication
When you work on a PowerPoint presentation, you prepare content for that. You give words to your ideas. These words are meant to convey your message to your audience. Choose your words carefully and do not stuff your presentation with too much test. Be to the point, as much as possible. Remember, you have spoken and visual communication to complement your written communication.

    Visual communication
Visual communication includes communication through drawings, graphs & charts, photographs, and the like. These are very powerful communication tools indeed for presenters. Illustrating your verbal points through visuals has been effective for many, and, there is no reason to believe that they wouldn’t work for you.

These three are important constituents of a PowerPoint presentation, and they should be combined in a cohesive manner for maximum effect. Use all three to complement or supplement each other for a greater combined effect.

Visuals among the three are very important, so, use your visuals to reinforce the main point you want to make. Not everyone is good at designing. This is natural. In such case, you have option of getting your hand on PowerPoint templates, which you can customize as per your need.

Visual representations, which include, drawings, graphs & charts, photographs, and the like, are powerful communication tools indeed for presenters. But, they are not a goal in themselves. Instead, they are a mean to achieve your goal, i.e., making your point through your presentation. Do not add any visualization just for the sake of adding. Add them when you are convinced of their utility, and that, they are going to help you get your message across.
