Blog Pic Basically, the Observation Charts are intended to conduct analysis of any particular thing. For example, a chart made for technical analysis are intended to compare the prices of a specific product at a particular point of time.

A chart which is made for observational purposes undertake two types of analysis. One is quantitative and the other is qualitative.

Quantitative Observation. In preparing a quantitative observation chart, the researchers has to use tools and methods to take out solid figures and measurements. Quantitative charts are intended to display the numbers of a quantitative research which has been conducted already. However, a quantitative research can be carried out in any area of research except the field of social science where the social behavior of the respondents is recorded which can not be calculated in any digital figure. Hence, we can say that the charts used to display the quantitative observation can display the changes in color, size or number of any object.

Qualitative Observation. A qualitative observation is comparatively believed to be subjective as it is based on the procedure of gathering that data which can hardly be quantified. This includes measurement of human social behavior, taste of an eatable item etc. While making a qualitative observation chart, the researcher often require to undertake certain interviews with an intention to gather the data on the basis of the participant observation. Factually, psychologists, sociologists and social scientists rely upon the qualitative data. This is because they believe that what is being observed can not be measured in terms of quantitative data.
