Mobile computers Mobile computers are the smallest in size. They are designed to be carried around by the users. The e.g. of mobile computers are :- Pocket PC, PDA, PMP, tablet PC, smart phone, laptops etc. |

Microcomputers Microcomputers are generally larger than mobile computers. Desktop computers commonly used in offices, homes, schools, banks are microcomputers. |

Minicomputers Minicomputers are larger than microcomputers. These computers originated in the 1960s and were largely replaced by microcomputers in the 1990s. CDC160A, SDS-92 are e.g. of minicomputers. |

Mainframes Mainframes are larger than microcomputers . These powerful, expensive computers are mainly used for bulk data processing by airline companies. IBM System z, NonStop are mainframes. |

Supercomputers Supercomputers are the biggest in size, often occupying an entire room. These computers can process trillions of instructions per second and are mainly used by governments and large industries for weather forecasting, research, etc. Cray-1 and IBM ASCI White are e.g. of supercomputers. |
