    2 : Questions? What images of people come to your mind when you think of our country? What images of places come to your mind when you think of our country? What parts of India have you lived in, or visited? Name some popular tourist destinations? Can you say which parts of India grow coffee?
    3 : Midway between Mysore and the coastal town of Manglore sits a piece of heaven which seemed to be drifted from the kingdom of god. This land of rolling hills is inhabited by a proud race of martial men, beautiful women & wild creatures. That heaven is ‘COORG’. Coorg is coffee country, famous for its rainforests and species. Coorg is also known as ‘Kodagu’. It is the smallest district of Karnataka and a home to evergreen rainforests, spices and coffee plantations. Evergreen rainforests cover thirty per cent of this district. It is also called as ‘Scotland of India’.

    10 : During the monsoons, it pours enough in Coorg. The best season to visit this place is from September to March. The climate is very good. The air brings the smell of coffee to visitors. The people of Coorg are possibly of Greek or Arabic descent. One story tells that, a part of Alexander’s army moved south along the coast and settled here. These people married with the locals and their culture is different in the traditions, marriage & religious rites. The theory of Arab origin is supported the long black coat with an embroidered waist-bell worn by the Coorgi people, known as kuppia, it resembles the kuffia worn by the Arabs & Kurds.

    17 : Coorgi homes have a tradition of hospitality & they are willing to recount stories of courage related to their sons and fathers. The Coorg Regiment is one of the most awarded Regiments for bravery in war. The first chief of the Indian Army, General Cariappa, was a Coorgi. Today, Coorgis are the only people in India permitted to carry firearms without a licence.

    21 : Kaveri river obtains its water from the hills & forests of Coorg. Mahaseer, a large freshwater fish is found in its water. Many kinds of animals like Kingfishers, squirrels, langurs and elephants enjoy the water. Birds, bees & butterflies are there to give company to people. Macaques, Malabar squirrels, langurs and slender loris keep a watchful eye from the tree. By climbing the Brahmagiri hills gives a panoramic view of the entire Coorg. So, everybody should visit this beautiful place.
