Highly centralized and is divided to K-12 education and higher education.
K-12 education: supervised by the Ministry of Education. K–12 (pronounced "k twelve", "k through twelve", or "k to twelve") is a designation for the sum of primary and secondary education. It is used in the United States, Canada, and some parts of Australia.
Higher education: under supervision of Ministry of Science and Technology. Iran has a large network of private, public, and state affiliated universities offering degrees in higher education. State-run universities of Iran are under the direct supervision of Iran's Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (for non-medical universities) and Ministry of Health and Medical Education (for medical schools).
